The Objects of the Society are to carry on business for the benefit of the community by providing or assisting in the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation of the public at large, or for individuals or groups who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, financial hardship or social circumstances, with the object or improving their conditions of life.
To accomplish this, we operate and manage sports and leisure facilities provided by local authorities.
At our core, we strive to enhance accessibility to our facilities, by all sections of the community, including a focus on individuals with disabilities. We are dedicated to:
We are dedicated to securing support to enhance accessibility initiatives for our facilities and we aim to create tailored programmess for all ages and abilities.

The society is overseen by its team of independent Board Members and regulated by the mutuals division of the Financial Conduct Authority. The Board consists of five experienced professionals who have particular expertise in the running of ‘not for profit’ businesses and the operation of sports and leisure facilities. Between them, the Board members have significant experience of working for local authorities at a senior level, and also include a former solicitor and a nationally recognised health and safety expert. The Board Members are;
Kim Arrenberg (Chairman)
David Swinburn (Secretary and Vice Chair)
Peter Mills
Colin Barlow
Ian Cooper
The Board Members engage the services of an experienced Management Consultant to act as the Society’s Representative to oversee and manage the day-to-day activities of the society.
Driven by a passion for the leisure and recreation sector, we established Creating Active Futures in response to the challenges faced by many sports and leisure venues following the pandemic. Day-to-day operations are overseen by seasoned leisure managers.
We are dedicated to making long-term investments to enhance access opportunities, increase user numbers, and broaden access to sports and leisure facilities. All surpluses will be reinvested in the furtherance of the Society’s Objects, in particular the development and improvement of the facilities we manage and the training of our staff.
Our Board Members have collaborated with local authorities grappling with financial constraints in recreation and leisure, developing a financially secure non-profit model that requires minimal local authority investment. This model allows for surplus reinvestment in facilities and aims to enhance access for the general public and to provide benefit to the local communities we serve.
